Braemar Nursing Home is firmly committed to a zero-tolerance policy for the abuse and neglect of residents. This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, family members, visitors, and service providers. Any form of abuse or neglect—physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, or financial—will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Everyone has a responsibility to report concerns immediately and help maintain a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for all residents. All staff are legally and ethically obligated to report any suspected or witnessed incidents of resident abuse or neglect immediately.

  • Braemar will thoroughly investigate and respond to all concerns or complaints regarding abuse or neglect, in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
  • Every resident has the right to be treated with dignity and respect, and to receive carefree from physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, or financial abuse and neglect.

The full Zero Tolerance of Abuse and Neglect policy is available upon request from the Administrator.

Whistle-Blowing Protection

In accordance with provincial legislation, Braemar Nursing Home fully supports and protects all individuals who report concerns in good faith. This includes staff, volunteers, residents, family members, and visitors.

  • Whistle-blowing protection ensures that no person will be penalized, threatened, or subject to retaliation—whether through actions or failure to act—for speaking up about suspected abuse, neglect, unsafe conditions, unethical behavior, or violations of resident rights.
  • Retaliation of any kind is strictly prohibited and will be treated as a serious breach of both Braemar’s internal policies and provincial law. This includes disciplinary consequences for those who attempt to discourage or punish individuals for reporting concerns.
  • Braemar is committed to creating a safe and transparent environment where everyone feels empowered to raise issues without fear.
  • All concerns are treated with confidentiality and respect and will be investigated promptly and appropriately.

The full Whistle-Blowing Protection Policy is available at any time upon request from the Administrator.
